Fascinating Story
The life of the Paget twins told by Celia Paget's daughter is gripping. Cosmopolitan, beautiful, endlessly vivacious, they are key figures of the first half of the 20th century.
Less enjoyable was the way it was read - a twinkly bedtime-story tonality that drifts into an artificial falsetto when reading from Mamaine's letters grates as much as the reader's comically operatic Italian pronunciation, her equally comical French and non-existent German.
A bit of a shame really, this brilliant would have been better served by a more accomplished performance.
