 Many years have passed since the last great Mage War. It has been a time of great change. But not all changes are for the best, and Asher's world is in peril once more.

The weather magic that holds Lur safe is failing, and the earth feels broken to those with the power to see. Scott Brick's fault

Two young boys, both magical prodigies, are taught by their very different fathers how to see the world, to assume their responsibilities and cherish their own ethnic group. Unfortunately, too many people have died who have ventured outside of their small country, which is surrounded by a bleak desert caused by a magic war.
Unfortunately Scott Brick lays so much emphasis on the protagonists' sorrowful mood that I couldn't stand listening to his gloomy pathos any longer after about 4 hours and therefore don't know how the story will unfold - probably I'll buy the book as the storyline seemed quite promising.
