I like krimis. I like lovestorys between people that arwnt in their teens. I like unconventional familydinamics. And i like my bit of thrill and angst. If you like thar too, this book will be something for you, because even with the serialmurder subplot.... I found it very fluff and wonderfuly done by the John Solo.

Let me start by saying that the murder part of the storyline is interesting and you don’t know immediately who the bad actor is.
But, and this is what almost made me put the book down… the main characters are two middle aged me and LEO who act more like sixteen year olds. Which, okay, matters of the heart make us act stupid sometimes. But the complete lack of procedure, basic tactical understanding and sheer wallowing instead of acting is taking things a little too far. Without giving anything away, the final crescendo could have been resolved a lot faster and with fewer consequences. Also, the fallout (or lack there of) from the injuries received makes me wonder which alternate universe builds humans like that. I highly doubt that a bandage and some
PT would be all required.
All in all it was an enjoyable read up until say the last 2-3 hours.

Interesting story, but…

The first half of this audio book feels rather typical for the genre: guy goes to Vegas, gets f--ed, gets a call and ghosts the other party only to meet them again at work. So far, so cliché.

But the story picks up. The case is actually interesting, but not half as interesting as the budding relationship between the two MCs. It's beautiful to watch, because they get to make mistakes, they get to figure themselves out, they get to be afraid and silly and human. Their relationship, the insecurities, all that just makes the ending so utterly, utterly satisfying I kept thinking about the story for a good while.

The narrator does a good job with the different voices and especially with crying and/or moaning without it being too over the top. Sometimes, a bit less acting I think would have been nice. But overall, this is a little jewel of a story I can whole-heartedly recommend.

This book was not for me. Every character annoyed me. The MC is constantly crying about everything and created “problems” out of nothing. The daughter was the worst… I’m questioning if the author ever met a 16yo in his live. This girl had the maturity of a 10yo and was absolutely ridiculous... don’t get me started on the insta love between the two MCs after a one night stand.

The story is weak and can be summarized in few sentences. Overall, boring. Worse is the speaker who tries too hard. Too much clenched teeth, squeaky teenage girl sounds like 4-year old. Really off-key, theatrical in a way that feels exaggerated or silly
