Inhaltsangabe
The comprehensive history of the role of war and terror in the spread of Islam.
It is taken for granted, even among many Washington policymakers, that Islam is a fundamentally peaceful religion and that Islamic jihad terrorism is something relatively new, a product of the economic and political ferment of the 20th century. But in The History of Jihad: From Muhammad to ISIS, Islamic scholar Robert Spencer proves definitively that Islamic terror is as old as Islam itself, as old as Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, who said “I have been made victorious through terror.”
Spencer briskly traces the 1,400-year war of Islamic jihadis against the rest of the world, detailing the jihad against Europe, including the 700-year struggle to conquer Constantinople; the jihad in Spain, where non-Muslims fought for another 700 years to get the jihadi invaders out of the country; and the jihad against India, where Muslim warriors and conquerors wrought unparalleled and unfathomable devastation in the name of their religion.
Told in great part in the words of contemporary chroniclers themselves, both Muslim and non-Muslim, The History of Jihad shows that jihad warfare has been a constant of Islam from its very beginnings, and present-day jihad terrorism proceeds along exactly the same ideological and theological foundations as did the great Islamic warrior states and jihad commanders of the past.
The History of Jihad: From Muhammad to ISIS is the first one-volume history of jihad in the English language, and the first book to tell the whole truth about Islam’s bloody history in an age when Islamic jihadis are more assertive in Western countries than they have been for centuries. This book is indispensable to understanding the geopolitical situation of the twenty-first century, and ultimately to formulating strategies to reform Islam and defeat radical terror.

Clarfifying in a sensitive topic
For quite sometime i have interest in the backgrounds for the Cultural differences between the West and the Islamic Lands. This interest growed with the incoming of millions of refugees to Europe, and specially after i my self worked directly with Muslim friends.
I could, after long talks, verify myself that there were differences in basic values that i took for granted for any human being, like "what is the role of the women in society", "should people have religious freedom", " should we give capital punishment for religious criticism" and so on. Those guys were high level Engineers and even so, their ideas scared me to the bones, to the point that i asked myself if we really should bring Muslims to our lands.
Very unfrotunate is the fact that, their different world view (barbaric, in many sense) was not inherited "because they are bad people" but instead, indoctrinated by something constant in their lives, that modeled their cultures in their homelands, and this thing was Islam.
I believe Robert Spencer managed to put out what everyeone knows but just dont want to talk about, which are the problems that the Islamic ideology has, and the danges it pose in a world in which different cultures are clashing against each other, and in which the final objective should be to reach common high standard values and join as one group, the mankind. Islam opposes all of it and resists evolution or updates to the bad (really bad) sides of the ideology, creating a world between us and then or, the Muslims and the kuffar... this dualistic world view, in which those outside your group/religion dont have the same rights and neither deserve same respect as those in your group, is a path to disaster and facism. In fact, whenever we identify the supremacists ideological aspects of Islam, that are present, and show themselves very clearly in the Sharia, its impossible to not compare it with modern Facism.
In a world that needs peace and comprehension, Islam poses the greatest danger of a Fascist ideology that approves use of violence in some cases, posing finally the threat not only by promotion of regional conflicts, but also, as Countries improve their leverage with technology, a possible Global conflict between Islamic lands and "the others". Time will tell if mankind will be able to overcome the newest and most dangerous facism form, which holds it self in the "untouchable" worlds of a self proclaimed "god" and a self proclaimed "prophet", that shouldnt be questioned, but blindly followed, if you dont want to face violent consequences.
