If my 1998 diary is anything to go by, female friendships are incredibly complex and emotional but they're the mini love stories that make us who we are. For many women, friends are our partners in crime through life; they are the ones who move us into new homes, out of bad relationships, through births and illnesses. In The F Word I've set out to explore and celebrate the essence of female friendship at different life stages and in its many wild and wonderful forms.

When Lily revealed what her book was about I simply couldn‘t imagine writing a whole book about the topic. Oh my was I wrong. The book gave me a very different perspective on all the girls in my life. It made me laugh and it made me cry (which is dangerous when driving a car). Thank you Lily for making me want to get back in touch with my bffs from the past.

Ich wollte erst die Printausgabe dieses Buches kaufen u habe mich dann für die Hörbuchversion entschieden, weil Lily es selber spricht. Sehr angenehm, schön ausgedrückt, was Freundschaft wirklich bedeutet und was der ein oder andere darüber noch lernen kann. Ich konnte ihr bei sehr vielem einfach nur zustimmen 😄

I found the personal retelling of female friendship experiences beautiful but at the end female friendships are compared to friendships women have with men and what the benefits of them are. Here the authors lists all the clichès that are so toxic to men and women as well - gender specific behaviours, like women would be there for emotional support while men are more rational and more easy going - yikes!
