Derek always wondered if gods had sent him to the wrong world. Until, one day, Earth Awakened. With dungeons, monsters, magic, and status screens, everything became not so different from fantasy fiction or a role-playing game.... Except death was real and monsters would chase you until you experience it firsthand. The sudden change brought chaos to the world, but to the young dwarf, it also brought the opportunity to discover his true self. And maybe to reunite with his real kinfolk. But only if he survived, first.
Who asked him to explore this abandoned mine at the worst time possible? Now Derek is trapped, and the only way to escape is to learn how this mysterious System works. Too bad there's no manual or teacher to help him with that. Or maybe there is? With his unlikely companions - a megalomaniac fairy, a polite dolphid, a twin ogre, and a mysterious cloaked girl - he's going to survive, he's going to learn, and he's going to show his talent as a Mastersmith!

an ok start to a series
I am a bit torn about this novel. The novel is written competently and not as wonky as some other litrpg series. The story reads as a kind of "first quest" and strongly hints at a continuation in future books. Overall the story is serviceable and I will continue to follow the series if it is continued, however so far there is not much you most likely haven't already seen somewhere else, storywise. To me it's an interesting start that scratched that itch I had for some more litrpg but it's not quite up there with my favourites. so we will see what the future of the series holds. overall, thumbs up!

Awesome
Not special or new but awesome in his combination of litrpg, dungon core, monster Player and dnd like Story!
I realy hope it is not abadone but 2 years without news is a bad sign.

one of the better litRPGs
really nice actually. i enjoyed the book and would love to listen to the second part. it does exist as a written version, but i skip on that for now.
anyway the story is cool. the system discribed intriguing. one could say derek is a bit to overpowered, defeating enemies way over his level constantly, but i like that kind of story. i'd wish derek was a little older, but that is just my old ass speaking :D
