Loved the story
But needed time to get used to the narrator. However, I can full-heartedly recommend this audiobook to people!
‚The Drift‘ is full of rich characters and to dive back into a story I had already read was just as precious as the first time I got to experience it. Interweaving present and past and other dimensions coming from special powers and memories in a way that is neither confusing nor annoying is a difficult task the author delivered on 100%. It gave the chance to have a closer glance at characters past without infodumbing and it gave perspective to different characters.
The setting is extremely interesting with humanity showing different evolutionary routes leading to racisms, powerful but evil rulers and mistrust between groups. Samara‘s skills are fun to read about because they try to stay solely in the biological which is a nice change to simply ‚having magic‘.
Narrator wise I needed more time to get into the story. For one because Kip‘s quips sounded like drawls and bickering turned into a much more serious sounding fight. Furthermore, in the beginning action scenes lacked urgency though either I grew used to the narrator or the issue improved later on.
