Über diesen Titel
Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher and a central figure in modern philosophy. His work is the culmination of all previous Western philosophy, and he single-handedly ushered in the post-modern era of philosophy. Kant's Critique of Judgment is third in the line of his great critiques that, when taken together, explore the entirety of philosophical thought. His first two critiques, the Critique of Pure Reason and Critique of Practical Reason, explore the nature of the mind, experience, and ethics. His final critique explores the one realm of philosophy that was left untouched by the previous works: the nature of emotion, judgment, and aesthetics. The first critique explored the faculty of reason, while the second addresses understanding. The link between these two aspects of knowledge is judgment, the way in which perception is transformed into understanding.
The Critique of Judgment explores this faculty, examining beauty and the purpose evident in nature. It blends aesthetic theory with teleology, offering a truly unique handling of the subject of perception, art, and beauty.
The AudioLearn version of The Critique of Judgment is preceded by a biography of the author and an exploration of the background of the piece. Also included are an overview, synopsis, and analysis, as well as an examination of the historical context, social impact, and criticisms of the work.
This is an ideal work for those interested in philosophy, history, or the nature of the mind.
