From first adolescent emotional stirs to a mature marriage and everything in between... this book is a treatise of love. The author tries to cover many situations that can occur in a relationship, maybe a bit too meticulously so. The book is rich in wise and witty insights, in is a book about being human as much as it is about being in love. I recognized many thoughts from the videos of The School of Life. I very much enjoyed the book and recommend it.

Always happy to read something by Alain de Botton, in this case a very interesting format in a sort of educational novel with some interesting narration in between to compliment the happenings. Relatable story with realistic development. Calm and on point reading by Julian Rhind-Tutt. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Great as Expected

Married or single, at the start of life or already a little wiser, I reckon everyone can find something in this book. The combination of generic advice with the fictional story of an actual couple sheds light on all our lifes. It reveals that strivint for perfect is likely an illusion. There‘s no proof of course, but it‘s probably as good an explanation of life and relationships as there is.

ein tolles Buch, was Einsicht in die Schwierigkeiten und die vielen Emotionen in einer Beziehung gibt, es macht Hoffnung, dass doch alle in ihrer Seltsamkeit komplett normal sind, samt der Herausfordernden in Beziehungen. Sehr erleichternd! :)

This audio book puts an entire marriage live so precisely and so understandably into a nutshell, that no one will be able to resist to accept the vast multitude of wonderful hints and tips how to steer around all the infinite cliffs endangering your perfect life and the respectful treatment of your beloved spouse. Buy this audio book and it will truly save your live, your marriage, your peace of mind and your happiness. Quite a lot for just one book - you might say - yes indeed it is - give it a try and listen yourself. Definitely worth it :-) and if you like British Humor, then you will even get double value

Although I found the beginning a bit strange at points, later on I really loved this book. It presents and analyses everyday problems and struggles that everyone has in their relationships or with themselves in a rational but also quite philosophical way and gives a new perspective to see things.
