Die modernen Teile waren leider wirklich schlecht und fast unlesbar, haben einen guten Teil der Handlung ruiniert.

The author should have let the fascinating core story of Good Stab and Three Persons stand for itself. But unfortunately he wraps it into a somewhat contemporary frame narrative that makes the whole thing feel silly. Also, while the male narrators are doing a great job, the female voice of the frame narrative sounds over the top and is even annoying. Very unfortunate.

Why would the author sandwich a good book between a flippant start and end? The female narrator was so flighty and light headed, that her role and voice just annoyed me. This could have been such a good book, if the author didn't get lazy with the ending.
