Spannend

Ich hatte vorher noch nicht von der Autorin gehört. Hatte nur eine Leseprobe aus einem anderen Buch - was aber sehr interessant klang. Als Hörbuch noch angenehmer. Die Geschichte baut sich gut auf, Spannung entwickelt sich gut. Äußerst interessante Charaktere. Werde die Serie weiter hören

Once you get used to the plot and its characters..

it is getting very addictive. And who doesn't like to listen to characters fetting close and into friendship.

Beautifully written new perspective on old genre

As a great fan of dark fiction/mystery , as well as real-crime-stories, and history novels, I would call this book a real gem as it manages to create an exciting, yet funny, and entirely entertaining symbioses of all my favorite genres.
All characters seem - surprisingly - real, even though they are not of this world (not human at all). So, please, Vivian Shaw, write more books and continue this story!

unterhaltsam - macht Lust auf mehr

Sympathische Figuren, ein etwas anderer Ansatz, die "Monstergeschichten" aufzunehmen, angenehme Sprecherin und mit Suchtfaktor.
Einziges Manko: Keinerlei Pausen zwischen den Kapiteln/Szenesprüngen, was immer wieder kurz verwirrt.

not a bad narrator but I've heard better

I would have liked a bit more modulation for the different characters' voices. sometimes I was confused who was speaking to whom.
something that is perhaps rather down to editing than the narrator: the breaks between paragraphs were often hardly noticeable as such which also sometimes caused me confusion.

character- and storywise though I thoroughly enjoyed it. (except that I wasn't really feeling the budding romance, I kind of would have preferred a different pairing. but oh well. let's see how it goes in the next book(s)!

The wonderful world of monsters with a twist

A surprisingly originals twist to the common supernatural books out there. Vampires, ghouls, mummies and demons are just a few in this wonderfully witty and highly entertaining book that we are introduced to. I am greatly enjoying every second and don’t know whether to read on faster for the pure joy of the story or slower to keep it going longer!

For anyone who enjoys the supernatural, a mix of the past, the present and the future all wrapped up with wit and fun, you will love this book!

Interesting idea but too bloody for me

The idea of having a doctor for the undead solving crimes in London seems to be inspired by the Peter Grant novels, but is different enough to raise interest. The heroine and her friends are interesting characters, but the villains are so absolutely gruesome and the wounds of all characters are so detailled that I stopped listening. The speaker is good, though.

Interesting story

I liked the story, but the speaker almost ruined it for me. There’s very little modulation, dialogue is hard to attribute to the characters and often the emotion doesn’t suit the text. What’s worse, there are no pauses between changes in perspective, which makes it harder to follow jumps in the narrative. I got used to it after a while, but I felt it really let the novel down.
