Die Welt der supernatürlichen Geheimorganisationen ist faszinierend und ich mag auch die weiblichen Hauptfiguren sehr. Leider verzettelt sich O'Malley immer mehr in einem mäandernden Erzählstil, der die Bücher nicht nur superlang macht, sondern den Geschichten auch ziemliche Längen verpasst. Keiner, der Exkurse ist per se schlecht aber sie halten Hauptplot immer wieder auf, so dass die Geschichte total an Tempo verliert und der Fokus verloren geht (die Motivation der Bösewichte ist zb sehr plakativ und hat für die Länge des Buches viel zu wenig Tiefe).

Das grösste Negativ ist aber ein narrativer Trick, um einen Twist zu erreichen, der mit der gewählten Erzählweise überhaupt keinen Sinn macht. Ich frage mich schon, wieso Editoren solche Dinge durchgehen lassen...

Das klingt jetzt alles sehr negativ aber ich habe die Geschichte und vor allem die Welt trotzdem genossen - einfach mit halb zugekniffenen Augen/Ohren, um die Schwächen zu übersehen/-hören.

Wurde dieses Buch tatsächlich vom gleichen Autoren wie The Rook geschrieben? Wo sind der Witz und die Originalität des ersten Teils geblieben? Einfach nur enttäuschend!
