without giving anything away, this book builds on other high republic books but really builds up towards the end, i like the way the focus on individual Jedis connection to the force is once again highlighted

Fantastically read by Marc Thompson we suffer alongside the Jedi one heavy loss after the other.
Gray masterfully describes what happens when the jedi lose their strength.

Cannot wait to know, in how far the Master Puppeteer Marchian Ro may be A pawn himself. Will one or two Sith make their appearance?

Dramatic - no Happy End

It keeps you listening. For sure. But it is definetly missing some what star wars fans crave. For starters, a direct fight against evil. All of these deaths and conflict, it's so indirect. And sometimes even boring. "Oh no, there is something that kills us if we get close. Let's get close anyway". You guys managed to create a terrible threat to the Jedi and at the same time make it boring. Also the nihil are sloy going in that direction. If you are not gonna include the Sith (which I understand because of the time this happens in), you have to compensate the lack of darksiders, equal force users and light Saber duels with something else. The evil trees were doing actually a better job at that. But a full book where the station is mostly getting destroyed my sabotage and falling to its demise with mostly boring and unnecessary deaths, is not it. The escence of Star wars is missing.

Cero complains about the acting. Maximum Kudos to Mark on this one. And yes, it gets you to keep on listening, but not necessarily because of a good story, but because poeple like me that already invested several days of our lives to consume this High republic stories are looking for conclusions and hopefully, more entrataining conflict. Not just a trio of saboteurs and an unknown entity that kills you when you come to close. (Raphtars were cool and fun). Remember. Great villans make better stories. Unrelatable and all powerful "better to avoid it than to fight it" ones, don't.
