Über diesen Titel
"We must be ruthless," Edward snarls, "because we lead ruthless lives: you, of anyone, should understand that. This is our existence, Jordan, this house, this land, that father, that mother - there's no pity, there's no mercy, there's probably no escape. It is hard, Jordan, and we have to be hard to survive it, and the best we can do is fight anything that threatens to make it worse."©1995 Sonya Hartnett (P)2000 Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd. Beschreibung von Audible

Kate Hosking gives a stirring performance of the young adult novel Sleeping Dogs by Sonya Hartnett. Her strong voice and expressive delivery perfectly capture the atmosphere for this audiobook set in rural Australia. The Willow family lives in a desolate landscape. Five children, isolated from the town, run the farm. Their father is abusive and their mother is unstable. There is a violence that underpins everything, but the children remain close to home - until one day when the youngest spills the family’s secrets to an artist who lives in a nearby caravan park.

Kritikerstimmen

"Fascinating and disturbing, this chilling story reveals how morality can be twisted by obsessive family loyalty." ( Publishers Weekly)
