It is overall a good story with some interesting themes to it, and certainly worth it for anyone interested in the charcaradons. However none of this is really all that new and the story becomes rather predictable. Especially because there is little to no payoff for the potential mysteries or conflicts that are presented. All conflicts are resolved very quickly and a lot of the time by one side simply dying. Characters are also not really given developement, or at least its not shown, but we are told it happend. That means the books substance is made up of a lot more just Space Marine gore porn, than i would have liked.
The first one, i think, has this beat by quite a bit.

Narrator overall does a very good job. He could sometimes take a second between scenes. Sometimes the switch between characters feels very abrupt, but that is a minor concerns.

Contrary to the other reviews this book is a far stronger entry into the series than Red Tithe.
From Renegade Space Marines, to Inquisition and Tyranids it has all and more to over.
it's not just bolter slaughter but something more.
I liked the worldbuilding in the first book and this is even better.
If you are looking for a fun novel then you will find it here. But beware it is not Helreach, Betrayer or the Horus Trilogy.

A good sequel to the first book.it gets somewhat meandering in the middle but the Finale pulls it bacl together. a good read.
