A highly addictive story of action,humor & romance
When Kaylee stumbles into a gory crime site and discovers that her Disney Dream Prince belongs to a mighty crime organisation, she needs help fast! Thanks to Mr.E she turns into Grace and hides with Jules and her siblings in small town Monroe/Co. Here Officer Hugh is bugging and begging everyone to let him get back to work. But his leutienant has a diffentent oppinion when Hugh's leg injury is concerned. Hugh is bored to bits until he and his K9 partner Lexi realize someone is stalking them and until they meet Jules'new houseguest. Soon he and Grace struggle to figure out who wants to kill whom as sniper bullets fly and cars explode. Their hidden enemies are very creative and offer the small town excitement, that can easily rival with the big cities.
Gosh,what a thrilling, fast paced action story Katie Ruggle has crafted and still managed to include such a charming new couple! I simply devoured this story in one looooooong gulp! I love the special chemistry between tall, take nothing too serious Hugh and resilient, tempramental Grace. Scrambling over rooves or snuggling up on the sofa commenting TV soaps, those two are made for each other. I followed breathlessly their banter and hair raising adventures, and I bet Lexi more than once rolled her dog eyes on them. I like how Katie Ruggle lets the plot grow more twisted and entwined the further the story of the three K9 officers moves on.
Callie Beaulier has outdone herself with this narration. Her interpretation of Hugh and Grace is so realistic that you can almost feel the sparks flying between them and laugh out loud at their witty comebacks, none of them giving in an inch to the other. Grace is a smart, brave woman and vividly portrayed. Hugh's restroom lock-picking running gag guarantees a smile to Grace and the listener until the end. It is so refreshing to listen to Callie Beaulier that the teasing epilogue harshly pulls you back to reality and just wants you to get more!
