Leider enttäuschend, banal und irgendwie macht dieses Buch wütend, da die Entwicklung und Gespräche alles andere als normal sind.

I finished listening in one day. I very much enjoyed the book and I am looking forward to reading or listening to other titles from Sally Rooney in the future.

Captivating and heartbreaking

The book alone is extremely irritating. The book is almost jump-scaring you with sex-scenes or explicit utterances. Almost nothing about this book is relatable and the characters are written in a way that makes them very unlikable. Unlikable characters can be a good way to tell stories, but there has to be at least someone in the story that the reader or hearer can like. This book has no one like that. Every character is a bad person and there is barely any growth or overarching story throughout the book. The only growth that really happens is at the end or very minor. I understand that this is most likely meant to be but the payoff for listening to random explicit sentences for the whole book isn't really worth it.
The reader is decent but destroys any sense of enjoyment for the hearer with her face boyish voice for Connell. It doesn't sound real, it doesn't work. All it does is actively take you out of the experience.
Other female readers don't try to do male voices and male readers don't try to do a squeaky voice when they read a female character. This book is a prime example of why this is the case. Dreadful to listen to. A whole audiobook ruined because of one stylistic decision
