The story is a revenge plot that has the murderer announcing to law enforcement a plan to kill “13 guilty and one innocent.” Along the way, Gibney hits the road, serving as protection for a famous women’s rights activist who also attracts credible, dangerous threats. Mueller fully embodies the many diverse voices that make up Gibney’s world of the Finders Keepers detective agency, including characters who break into song. Mueller’s tone embraces the mounting tension."

As said in the title, the story was just too long-stretched and you can see that SK is not in his prime anymore. Female reader did a great job, sometimes it was too much of her as well though (was she applying as a musician?)

I’m a big King fan and have now read or listened to almost all his books but and love many of them. This one however is mediocre at best. The story is neither compelling nor scary nor , to be frank, particularly interesting.
I don’t like the characters and the bad guys are somehow paper tigers despite their horrible actions.
Can just be me but I don’t even like Holly in this book and I normally adore her.
Well if you write a gazillion books there’s bound to be a bad apple now and again.
The voice actress is brilliant however !

An okay book

It has many good parts, but so much is just hard to believe and overdone. Every time the revolver is mentioned it has to be explain again and again that it's Bill's old revolver for example. The Robinsons just fall from one live changing event to the next, really throws it off. They don't add anything to the story, could have been any other characters and I think it might have been a better story.

But, the narration and singing are amazing, don't think I would've finished the paper version, but Jessie Mueller delivered a great performance.

The narrator is fantastic, she really brings the characters to live. And there are a lot of them with many different storylines. It's not my favorite King, but at this point it's simply nice to have a new Holly story.

I loved the first 3 in the Holly series so pre-ordering this was a no brainier which is why I was shocked to be so disappointed. The story was pradictable and ramed do full of insignificant detail that is became boring. The voice was more appropriate for a Murder club novel than a Stephen King story giving it a air of light crime rather than King's amazing mystery suspense. I really was in two mind if I should leave a review after hearing Stephen King's end comment as I respect the situation but the struggle he explained in finishing it really showed. I wish I could go back to the high from listening to the last 3 books.
