Absorbing overview of a little-known but formative era of human intellectual history
Well-composed, thoughtful account of a period that I knew very little about but which laid the groundwork for the development of fundamental ideas governing our society still today: equality, markets, nature follows laws,... The speaker, Jonathan Keeble, is excellent as always and makes listening a great pleasure.
The larger part of the book recounts various aspects of the Little Ice Age , mostly through interesting biographies of ground-breaking thinkers of the time, which are connected skillfully into a whole. The epilogue raises interesting questions about what we can learn from the Little Ice Age for our own time of climate change.
