Started slow, I hated the main character at first, so cynical and self destructive it drove me crazy. But she grew on me, the narration was really good.

difficult to rate. I knew it will be difficult to read as the topic itself is quite depressing. and the book doesn't fail to fulfill the expectations, it's pretty draining and at the 2nd half I was just hoping that's it's over soon. not disappointed since the book is inline with what I expected it to be but I wouldn't recommend it as a read to others.

"My Year of Rest and Relaxation" is a gripping exploration of escapism and the human desire for respite. Despite its (initially) unlikable protagonist the narrative compels listeners to contemplate their own relationship with rest and survival. A thought-provoking journey that lingers in the mind long after the final chapter.

Also, ich persönlich wusste bereits, dass das Buch keinen richtigen Plot hat, aber ich kann mir vorstellen, dass man, wenn man das zuvor nicht wusste, finden kann, dass es ein wenig langatmig wirkt.
Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass die Sprecherin wirklich gute Arbeit geleistet hat und das Buch, meiner Meinung nach, somit durchgehend spannend oder zumindest unterhaltsam war. Vor allem die Passagen in denen die Protagonistin von ihrer Kindheit erzählt finde ich besonders spannend. Ebenso dabei zuzuhören, wie sie ihr Leben komplett schleifen lässt. Ich finde, das Buch gewährt einem da einfach einen guten Einblick:)

Ich kann es auf jeden Fall empfehlen mal reinzuhören.
