a Good Man, a Bad Woman and lot of Zombies
I read Keith Blackmore's hospital and got curious enough to read the Mountain Man. I was a little bit disappointed, because 'The Hospital' promised more than the 'Mountain Man' could keep.
The mountain man, a former house painter, is one of the very few survivors in a world, where the majority of humans turned into man eating zombies. He built himself a little safe haven in the mountains outside of the city, where he survives by careful looting for food and supplies. His solitary life, which is mainly spent on heavy drinking and killing of zombies, gets more exciting and complicated, when he picks up other survivors, another man and a woman. These additions to his household make his life more complicated and finally lead to disaster.
The story is entertaining to a certain extent, but the endless repetition of blowing off the heads of zombies or running them over with a car is a little bit tiresome after a while. I also did not really get the point of the story, killing of humans and zombies seems to be all there is.
Real zombie fans might enjoy the book, but for most of the readers the story might be a little bit too thin.
