Über diesen Titel
Since the day I turned into a Venator, I had been doing everything on my own. From tracking monsters to setting traps, I could count on no one but myself.
Luckily, things have changed. With the creation of the first Lodge in centuries, I now have recruits to follow in my footsteps, recruits who each have their own special class and abilities.
Still, that doesn't mean that I can slack off. The Zinoss Jungle is far from a safe place. There are myriad other monsters roaming the surface and Mulrand, the terrifying Titan who's reigning over this particular region.
If we want to have a chance to defeat him and bring villagers to the surface, we need to grow our ranks and power. Thankfully, as I push further into the jungle, I stumble upon a few new villages that might give us that edge that we lacked: new technology, miners, metal, engineers, as well as a few more recruits.
The more I hunt down those monsters, the more I can feel the malicious effects of the Hunter's Stare, the condition known to drive a Venator insane until he turns into a Dread Beast. I will need to find answers to that sentence, especially now that I have other fellow hunters who could fall victim to it.

The protagonist is the only character that gets some development. Characters have no more motivation than pure survival and the best version of that was already in the first book. All other characters feel like walking checkboxes. They do nothing that will surprise you after their introduction. When a character dies, I just sit there and think, "That one died? Would have been tragic if I knew anything about them besides their character sheet…"
The writing style is very basic. There are some borderline contradictions that made me do a double take. For example, at one point the author forgot that inertia also affects people inside a vehicle that suddenly comes to a stop, and not just what it slams into.
I usually don't have much to say about the voice actor reading the book, but this one makes a simple book sound confusing. She can't emote any higher emotions. Mild annoyance and a faint smile are the best she does. Even shouts get not much more than a growling voice. It takes you out of the story if you have to reinterpret afterwards how characters speak after a flat version has been presented first.
Needs more heart in the presentation
