Captivating, thought-provoking, emotional
I enjoyed every bit of this audio book and honestly wished it was longer.
The book is about a black American girl, Tineka, and a white English boy, Alex, who fall in love and get married. They hold two different perspectives on life incidents, as a result of which they are challenged as an interracial couple.
The authors take u with them on a journey of their lives and experiences during childhood and adulthood, the challenges she faced and privileges he enjoyed. Their experiences are drastically different and are shaped by their skin color and stemmed from deepest and darkest parts of history. The book made me think a lot over several days, shocked at the extent and depth of racism in 21st century.
Their love and support for one another is all that matters, and make this whole journey very relatable for all people in interracial relationships.
