Matt and Liz may have retired from the police, but that doesn't mean a quiet life.
An old friend's sister disappears without a trace. There's no sign of foul play, but she'd been acting very peculiarly....
Meanwhile, Liz's cousin, Christie, comes to stay. She takes an immediate - and uncharacteristic - dislike to the local bookshop owner, Gina. Why does everyone put up with her awful behavior?

Slow but really tense
Wow! What a story! I was a bit surprised about the pace at first, but this picks up towards the end really quite dramatically. It is a bit disturbing though and sensitive people may need a bit longer to get the story out of their system afterwards. Superbly read! Clear recommendation!

Friendship and first dislike
Unbelievable how the story twists and turns until all the pieces fall into place. Less about the detectives but with intriguing other and new characters on the fens.

knowing the fens through this author
love all the details about the marsh and the little stories at the end, sort of folk old stories, the art bits here and there. this was not so much about Matt though but it was entertaining.
