The charakters and the storyline were amazing but please be aware that the story containes multipe disturbing and highly triggering scenes. For the sake of not giving spoilers I will just say everything that you can think of.
Please be mindfull and if you are just recovering or in the middle of any kind of condition or any kind of abuse please just think twice before listening into this.
This book can be healing and give you strength but it is also very explicit with the containig trauma and might make you relive traumatising situations and unhealthy thinking patterns.
Take care of yourselfs

Honestly didn't expect much since it was available for free but holy moly did I love it! The book has great characters with realistic growth and development and an interesting and heartfelt story. Big big recommendation!!
Despite all that greatness I have to give everyone multiple trigger warnings though (which also brings some spoilers so read with care) including:

death (loss of a parent), terminal cancer, rape, eating disorder, depression, self-hate, mental and physical abuse, alcoholism and cheating

Nothing is described in great detail but you should know this is not always lighthearted and funny but deals with very serious problems! Still please don't let of all these things stop you from listening to this story!! Again small spoiler:

Every character gets what they deserve and it has a happy ending.

I absolutely loved the characters and representation of characters with various problems. However I have to agree with the other reviewers, a few trigger warnings would have been good. The story and character dynamics are absolutely thrilling and the performance is *chefs kiss* amazing!

and at times so witty and funny and heartfelt.
This is such a powerful story.
It shows so well that we need darkness to fully appreciate light.
To see the monsters and defeat them, while knowing that they just keep coming at times.
Joel Leslie did a marvellous job.
Keep the warnings in mind.
The book is so worth to read or listened to, if you can.

It took me a little time to find my way into it but then the charakters grew to my heart. But beware: This story contains attempted suicide, self hate, depression, abuse... some really disturbing scenes.
I really liked this two boys and sometimes it was really hard to follow them trough their rough lifes. But they are worth it. Really good writing.

Lock & West ist a great story about two teenage boys who absolutely push the opposites-attract button. What they experience is a lot of heartbreaking drama but sprinkled with a well dosed hint of heartwarming, funny & hot moments.
Joel Leslie is once more the perfect narrator to bring this beautiful written story of Eberhart to our longing ears.
I loved listening to him, as I always do.
Everything done right and a highly recommendation to anybpdy who likes mm-romance with heavy Themen & touching coming-of-age stories & Drama with not only dark spots in it.

Die Geschichte selber ist sicher interessant und ich werde sie mir nochmal als Buch zum Lesen holen, aber zum hören geht gar nicht. Ich habe mitten im 2ten Kapitel gestoppt. Der Sprecher geht für mich gar nicht. Ich liebe LGBT Stories und habe schon einige von Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Mark Oshiro, TJ Kunne und anderen, mit ganz tollen Sprechern angehört und war immer begeistert. Aber der Sprecher hört sich so überzogen Gay an und das nicht nur bei einem Charakter, sondern bei allen, als strenge er sich extra an, so zu klingen. Für mich zu anstrengend. Als wenn jeder Homosexuelle so übertrieben klingen würde. Und ich habe einige im Bekanntenkreis, das ist definitiv nicht so. Selbst die Heterosexuellen Charaktere klingen so überzogen. Er gibt einfach keine Unterschiede zwischen den Personen, alle klingen gleich. Wer es mag wird damit glücklich. Viel Spaß beim Hören.
