It's a nice little listen. I sometimes like books where I don't have the unnecessary second problem story arc, so this is perfect for a little love and comfort. Cute characters and some good spicy scenes.

i couldn't go through with the book. it started so cute, cozy, easy, with this delicious slow burn - but when finally all the hot fantasies come to life - it losts its appeal. the spicy scenes are just not good. and therefore too long and detailed. and although the narration is fine both narrator couldn't make something out of it. the scenes are marble, which ist inconvenient in a christmassy romance book (and i personnally didn't like the way di Cosimo intonated Paxton when reading from Baxters perspective). bummer!

Baxter and Paxton are single dads. They get matched up at a school lottery for finding friends, well their kids are. But they kids are not really kids anymore, they are about 17. And now the smiling Baker Baxter and the handyman Paxton have to spend mandatory family time together.

I really liked all the family scenes and everything that happened in their weeks before Christmas. They are really cute and considerate and the longer they know each other the more they care for each other and their children.

The intimate scenes got a little to often for me in the end. I just wanted to hear more about going sleding and baking cookies. One scene I skipped entirely bc of that.

So yeah, the book has great Christmas vibes and really gets you in the mood. The characters are loveable, I liked Becca and Nathan the most. There's a lot in it about what it means for the two men to be a parent and their struggles and that was the part I really enjoyed.

Baxter and Paxton's relationship took a looooong time to get started, first it was so sour. But with the right ingredients, patience and help from family and friends they found their way...

Bei Weihnachts-Romanen mit solchen Titeln erwarte ich nicht viel: ein bisschen was für´s Herz, etwas zum Lachen, ein bisschen Erotik und eine Prise Weihnachtsgefühl.
Dieser Titel hatte all das und noch mehr. Die beiden Charaktere sind glaubhaft und realistisch angelegt. Auch wenn das Drama (für uns Europäer) etwas zu over the top ist, habe ich die Geschichte der beiden gerne bis zum Schluss verfolgt.
Das liegt in erster Linie an den brillianten Sprechern. Beide haben ein breites Stimm-Register und das ist das erste Hörbuch, dass ich gehört habe, in dem auch der Sprecher mit der eher hellen Tenor-Stimme das tiefe Grollen des zweiten Charakters herrvorragend spricht. Und die Bass-Stimme: yummy! Leider habe ich keine Möglichkeit gefunden, herauszubekommen, wer wer ist (Dexter oder DiCosimo). Auf jeden Fall sind beide sehr gute Voive-Actor und ich bin schon auf der Suche nach weiteren Titeln von ihnen, die in mein Beutschema fallen.
Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Hörbuch für die Vor-Weihnachtszeit. Nutzt gute Boxen/Kopfhörer: diesen Bass muss man genießen!
