Inhaltsangabe
Croy Esca is a fixer at Torus Intercession, paid to guard, advocate for, and help those in need of the services his boss, Jared Colter, provides. Professionally, Croy goes in, gets the job done, and doesn't allow for anything that might resemble interest - which mirrors the way he handles his personal life as well.
When Croy is assigned to act as bodyguard to a billionaire during a long weekend trip to Las Vegas, he expects another in and out job made all the more tedious by the company he'll be keeping, and his loathing of Sin City. What he ends up with, however, is far more than he bargained for.
FBI Special Agent Dallas Bauer is good at what he does; some might even say he's consumed by his work, to the point of insomnia and at the cost to anything resembling a full life. Then Croy Esca comes crashing into his life, and it doesn't take long before he's struck by how desperate he is to make sure the fixer doesn't become the one that got away.
When Croy's assignment evolves into something so much more dangerous and complicated than he could have ever predicted, and his and Dallas's lives collide, the fixer finds himself in a fix. One Croy is not altogether sure he wants to escape.

rather unique way of narration
1st of all the story is great! I have read all Torus Intercession books before getting the audios. This one is read by a different narrator as the 1st book. Since I don't have any other books by John Solo can't say if this is specifically for this book or his usual way of narration. It is rather different and I needed to get used to it as it comes of as clipped, staccato like at times. Not like the smooth way other narrators do. But he is great at bringing across emotions and action! So even if you are uncertain at 1st keep going. You do get into it until you barely notice it anymore

Great Continuation
This is a great way to go on from part one of the series. I'm not a huge fan of John Solo's reading, but he did turn it down a little with the drama here and managed to read both main characters as the men they are without the strange whispering he tends to use when reading the omega in alpha/omega stories. He does still tend to do sort of staccato sentences, which I don't really like, but it wasn't overwhelming here and he cut down on the yelling in dramatic scenes as well, and it turns out, if does all that, his way of reading the story doesn't aggravate me as much and I actually managed to fall into the story this time and really enjoyed it. So, while there is room for improvement, he did quite well here and gets 4 stars from me. (Keep in mind that this is just my personal opinion and I know there are quite a lot of people really loving his narration style. You might be one of them.)
The story I absolutely loved. The author really has a talent for character development, and apt descriptions of familial and interpersonal relationships. While I would have loved to go deeper into the topic of Croy's family (Btw, not a fan of that name), this was a well-rounded story that worked out perfectly as it was. You know from the summary what this story is about, and you don't really need to know more. The beginning was just a tiny little bit tedious until Dallas finally showed up and the story picked up pace, but Croy's knack for observations made me quite invested in the lives of the side characters, which made that part enjoyable, as well.
*Spoilers ahead*
I just really love all the characters (exactly as I did in the first book of this series) and would thus immensely enjoy listening to more of what their life entails. Would have loved to hear more about the cat they planned to adopt, too. And what all the side characters got up to in the end, and how the private detective business turned out for Croy. There's a lot of things that could have still been explored, but they didn't stricktly *need* to be, so this works well as it is.
I'm glad there's more to the series and am off to listen to the next part now!

Unrealistic
DNF. I gave up at 80 %.The story is all over the place and then relationship between them MCs is unrealistic. Not even John Solo, who I love and did a great job, could save this book for me.
