This was such a chilling read!!

That case is all kinds of disturbing. BUT it was told in such a great way. Seriously, the writing. (Also, I truly enjoyed the way the audio book was produced).

The last few chapters. Especially the letter towards the end just gave me all the chills.
I also loved the (kinda) discussion part at the end about how much that book helped find the son of a bitch, or if it didn't help at all. That was...interesting.

I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!
Even though I'm super into True Crime, I think that was the first time I actually read a book about it. I have some serious catching up to do. But this one set the bar really high.

Deep dive par excellence

i loved the book from start to finish. The voices are perfect and the writing is just so good. i would recommend to everyone interested in true crime and detective work. The personal touches are very cool, too.

Her 'Letter to an Old Man' intended for the killer will remain with you for a long time. A marvellous crime fighter who didn't give up and kept the evil crimes in the public eye. Do not read alone at night, utterly chilling.

interesting but sometimes hard to chew

the book early chapters, those actually written by McNamara are really great and we'll crafted. unfortunately the second part, which relies on notes left drafts and articles written by her as source, tends to repeat information several time. one chapter is made up by written transcript of a recorded conversation, which is not really interesting to hear (maybe that is simply a issue of the audio book) I did not appreciate the final chapter, in which there is an attempt to push a narrative, the fact that her work directly helped catching the killer, is frankly nauseating and feels like an obituary statement.

A woman’s life wasted

I started this book, thinking it contributed in catching this predator. It left me disappointed, bored and unfulfilled. I was expecting that some of the clues would be tied to DeAngelo at the end but they just went nowhere. A waste of time.

A bit confusing

It mentions so many people and places and the time-line is back and forth and this made it hard for me to keep track of the events

wouldn't recommend

so many of my truecrime youtuber recommend this audiobook, so i had high expectancies. unfortunately, the audiobook was confusing and i didn't enjoyed it as i hoped i would. maybe it would have been better as a book- not an audiobook.
