Über diesen Titel
Second novel in the brilliant new series from the bestselling author of Prince of Thorns.
In Mystic Class Nona Grey begins to learn the secrets of the universe. But so often, knowing the truth just makes our choices harder. Before she leaves the Convent of Sweet Mercy, Nona must choose her path and take the red of a Martial Sister, the grey of a Sister of Discretion, the blue of a Mystic Sister or the simple black of a Bride of the Ancestor, entailing a life of prayer and service.
Standing between her and these choices are the pride of a thwarted assassin, the ambition of a would-be empress wielding the Inquisition like a blade, and the vengeance of the empire’s richest lord.
As the world narrows around her, and her enemies attack her using the very system she has sworn to, Nona must forge her own path in spite of the pulls of friendship, revenge, ambition, and loyalty.
In all this only one thing is certain. There will be blood.

"An excellent writer." (George R.R. Martin)
Die Sprecherin ist sehr langsam, aber ansonsten gut.
besser als Buch 1

The world is interesting and well build, the "magic" and the ninja nun school redemption damnation girlsclub story has a lot going for it.
I liked the bigger picture this volume presented and the insights into the character of Glass and her maturing plot. Also to see how powerful the sisters really are was fun.
Don't mind my 4 Stars. They are only relative to the 5 I have given red queens war.
Book of the Ancestor still is top notch fantasy.
And I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed for example the shattered see by Abercrombie.
A good book.

The writer has a bad habit of jumping back and forth in time while telling the story.
One chapter the character is years before the current date, next it's in the future and then back to current time and all three books are the same, it's a sign of very bad editing and writers that have a problem with telling a story from A to B but writes different chapters and then have someone else edit them to a full book.
I've read the books before I bought the audio book, so it's not bad but this is really a set of book that you want to be able to focus on while listening,
The jumping back and forth really breaks the rythm of the story, what could have been a great book became just a good one...
An OK book but....

I think it's a bit disappointing to have a FANTASTIC story and a wonderfully TALENTED speaker...but for it to be ruined by a crap sound editor!!!
The two stars are only because of the editing issues and not the book itself. So far I'm loving it.
EDIT: I am now finished. I am REALLY disappointed in this audiobook. It had such potential to be as good as the first. But 100% ruined by the audio quality/lack of editing. It felt like it was rushed and they cut corners. I have the next book. But actually considering giving it back and buying a printed copy, so as to not ruin the last book.
The Audiobook has some editing issues
