Like in his book about the basement tapes Marcus Greil dives deep into Dylan’s music but this time fails to make a meaningful and coherent connection the Dylan in a biographical way - like the subtitle of his book suggests. They are more essays about the songs and their connection to events in the past and present than a biography about Dylan in those song. Still they’re some interesting facts and insights in this book I’d not want to miss so if you liked his previous work about Dylan you’ll mostly like this too but don’t buy it if you actual want a biography about Dylan
