Über diesen Titel
Fitzwilliam Darcy, An Honourable Man is a Pride and Prejudice variation. Not a simple retelling, it is an intriguing new story that does not follow canon. It is rated for mature audiences.
Leaving England after his disastrous proposal was refused at Hunsford, Darcy spent two lonely years in Scotland and Ireland before returning home to face Elizabeth Bennet, certain that he could regard her as an indifferent acquaintance. Events that transpired in his absence have left Elizabeth a changed woman. The victim of a marriage by deception to Count Stefano, she has suffered greatly at his hands. Will Mr. Darcy rescue the woman he vowed to forget?

Fitzwilliam Darcy: an honourable man
The refusal of the woman he loves leaves Fitzwilliam Darcy's world shattered. For two years he leaves family and friends behind and tours his remote properties to forget her. When he thinks he is not haunted by her any more he returns. On his return he receives word from his friend Bingley, begging his assistants in a delicate matter. During his absence Elizabeth had suffered greatly by her forced marriage to the evil Count Stefano, leaving her a changed woman.
Will Darcy be able to save the one woman he loves? Will Elizabeth's past even permit her rescue? And what about Darcy's feelings for her which he tried to fight these past two years?
The book is very well written by the author Brenda Webb. There is much love in it but also much longing, suffering and fear. But fortunately all turned out well in the end for ODC.
There is not only the love between Darcy and Elizabeth but there also between Jane and Bingley as well as Georgina and her husband Evan. All relationships between the couples were beautifully written and all couples were very much in love and not afraid to show it. There is also much love between family members like Darcy and Georgiana, Darcy and Richard or Bingley and Elizabeth. And I really like that Elizabeth gains a new family with Darcy's relations and father Williamson, the former vicar of Meryton.
The feeling of these different types of love carried me through the whole book and it breathed me against the angsty parts.
In this book you will find a rival for Darcy. Not that Elizabeth has any affection for him, Count Stefano is a really evil man, but he is Elizabeth's husband and therefore, at the beginning, it seems that a loving relationship that leads to a wedding is not possible for ODC. Fortunately there were some turns and not all is as it seems and, in the end, ODC are naturally able to be together and live their love. But it takes time and effort and some moments of worry for the reader. Especially as another well known villain also has his appearance - Wickham, as always, has not an honourable way in mind when he becomes a part of the story.
There is also a real evil person amongst the family members but fortunately this person gets what they deserve.
All the villains and their evil ways and machinations are fortunately endurable and the love you read throughout the whole book lets you hope for a positive ending all the time.
The book was narrated by the, incredible narrator Stevie Zimmerman. I like her voice and her way of narrating very much. She is so good at voicing a suffering Darcy. She also gives every person a different voice thus you are at every moment of the story able to tell who is talking to whom. She is definitely the best narrator possible for this audiobook and I love that she makes a great story even better with her incredible performance.
If you like to know if and how Darcy is able to rescue Elizabeth of the clutches the evil Court Stefano you should definitely listen to the audiobook.
I highly recommend it.
The book contains scenes for a mature audience.
I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
