Über diesen Titel
The first original novel tying into the critically acclaimed and much-missed Firefly series from creator Joss Whedon
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true....
While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war. As the rest of the crew struggle to locate him, Mal is placed on trial for his life, fighting compelling evidence that someone did indeed betray them to the Alliance all those years ago. As old comrades and old rivals crawl out of the woodwork, Mal must prove his innocence, but his captors are desperate and destitute, and will settle for nothing less than the culprit’s blood.

It feels mighty good to be back in the verse!
Novels of beloved tv-shows are often a tricky thing. As a fan, one is excited that there is FINALLY a book with a new story in your beloved universe. On the other hand, the mountain of hopes and expectations is rather large. After all, every fan wants in some way his or her own “version” of the story-arc to be continued. Even with a large franchise like Star Trek or Star Wars, the potential pitfalls are many. With firefly, a show so much loved, treasured and highly regarded, the odds of success seam impossible. But exactly that is what the author pulls off with this novel. I listened to the audiobook mere hours after the Episode “The Message” where things are taken up by the novel and was absolutely blown away. The dialogue, the mannerisms of the people, the descriptions of places and the story progression felt so natural, it was almost surreal. It felt like listening to a lost episode. I was instantly able to picture what was read, as if it was a "real" episode. Yes, IT IS THAT good! The narrator is going an outstanding job too. He must have watched the episodes numerous times because he had the speaking-patterns of the characters down cold. Not only the main cast but also supporting characters like badger. After finishing this audiobook, and while buying Book number 2, all I can say is, it feels good to be back home
