The time has come to take the fight to the Lankies.

Mars has been under Lanky control for more than a year. Since then, the depleted forces of Earth's alliances have rebuilt their fleets, staffing old warships with freshly trained troops. Torn between the need to beat the Lankies to the punch and taking enough time to put together an effective fighting force, command has decided to strike now.

Once again, seasoned veterans Andrew and Halley find themselves in charge of green troops and at the sharp tip of the spear as the combined military might of Earth goes up against the Lankies. But if there's one constant in war, it's that no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy...and the Lankies want to hold on to Mars as badly as humanity wants to reclaim it.

I'm native german guy, but hell how I enjoyed listening to Luke's voice. I had the first 4 books in german language and got so much used to the voices that I could never imagine to like Luke's voice as Lt. Andrew Grayson, Haley or the other Characters, but he nailed it. Well done work and an outstanding story.

wie schaffen es sich die Astronauten mit den Rettungskapsel zu retten da das Schiff so schnell entfernt das es keiner mehr einholen kann ???

The story gives a little more background to the characters and the story is getting above twist in the end but the german (for a German native) is awful.

The series continues the way it began . Awesome :) it’s a pleasure to listen to the story and the way everything turns out.

Luke Daniels, he's the man! Ok, everytime he uses his grumpy sergeant voice I giggle a bit.

One thing that has been remarkably absent so far was the really hard science. It took a quick look around in Lines of Departure with Newtons third law winning the day but then was absent in the following books. Fields of Fire is different from the start. How do you fight the alien? A question Lieutenant Grayson is giving more and more thought as he grows his experience fighting the Lankies.

Expanding on the relationship between Grayson and Halley, but as well the Halley family, we get a more personal view of Frontlines' main characters. It culminates in the long awaited battle of Mars. And if you were expecting a run of the mill hooray and march to victory ending you are in for a surprise.

Marko Kloos knows how to build suspension, and how and when to relieve pressure. The Epilogue had me in tears. But interludes like the young corporal admitting to being transferred from accounting after she downed a Lankie with a silver-star worthy close quarter combat move had me laughing.

Overall this is a great step in the development of this series, so if you were afraid that this one was coming towards an end: Worry not! There's a good run of books still in this particular world without any kind of boredom in sight.

the story continuous, even it's start slower, you know where it will go. you expect a turn or twist, nothing coming up. realistic errors inside too but the story is straight and conpletes it.
performance as always excellent.

My wish would be a german Version but I think that will not happens. But at the end I also enjoy it in english. Great Job.
