This is part of the series Diet and Health. It covers the basics of fasting, part of the normal homeostasis of your body and an essential part of the renewal of the cells in your body. I will talk you into fasting for at least 12 hours between the last meal of the day and the first of the next. After listening to this book, everyone does this.
Most of you will also fast for 24 hours, just to see what it is like. I will convince some of you to eat supper on Sunday, then not eat until breakfast on Tuesday. We are not doing this to lose weight, but rather to maintain health and weight. I will discuss long fasts, mainly to examine what happens to your metabolism during a fast. I will also talk about the fear of fasting, and I almost guarantee most of you will at least try it.
This book goes along with the lifetime maintenance diet. It is just a part of this diet, but a necessary one. I have other books on diabetes, prediabetes, and obesity, but this book is for normal people. You may want to lose a little fat, and this will assist you. You may need the ketogenic diet, and that is why I wrote a separate book on this subject. In any case, you will learn much about basic metabolism, which will help you make your own decisions based on common sense.
