Über diesen Titel
Anyone who tells you that he or she knows everything there is to know about hunting elk will lie to you about something else. That’s why I’ve written this book, Elk: Keys to 23 More Hunters’ Success, and included more information to follow my highly-successful earlier book, Elk: Keys to 25 Hunters’ Success. The first two men in this new book, Ronnie Strickland and Will Primos, have a combined total of 78 years of elk hunting experience, often calling in several bulls in numerous states for other hunters each year. Not all these bulls have been taken. However, when you get a bull in close enough to take, that’s a win for the caller.
This new book also contains numerous tips and tactics from outstanding guides, outfitters, TV hosts, professional hunters, and elk enthusiasts who have been bitten by the elk bug and dream about bugling bulls at night. They study states, counties, and public lands where they believe their odds are best for taking bulls 300 inches or better. For instance, Dudley McGarity finally accomplished his lifelong dream of taking a bull elk on public land with his longbow. Another elk hunter, Jamie Spencer, who dreamed of hunting elk for a lifetime, made his dream come true for him and a friend on their first elk hunt with a skilled guide and lot of luck. Before Melissa Bachman, the host of Winchester Deadly Passion TV show, was allowed to set aside her camera, pick up her rifle and take her first bull, she had to agree to film six of her hunting buddies harvesting their bulls.
You’ll meet unforgettable people in this book who will help increase your odds when you go West to chase buglers. You’ll also learn about new elk-hunting opportunities in the East as the elk have returned to their home ranges in 11 states. These new elk aren’t babies. They thrive in these Eastern States, grow tremendous antlers like a 382-inch bull taken in Kentucky a couple of years ago and offer opportunities just as challenging as going West for elk.
One of the reasons I enjoy hunting and learning all I can about elk and elk hunting is because I realize I never can learn it all. But each fragment of knowledge I gain about elk hunting increases my odds of taking that giant bull elk I’ve always dreamed of harvesting.
