The story is kind of okay, but the execution of the english version is lacking!
I searched for cultivation (xanxia) stories on audible and found this. Got a deal for the first 2 books and tried it out.
Contra:
The translation isn’t very good. I‘ve read worse in other books, but listening to it is tiresome.
One example the auctioneer says „i welcome guests and … guests“ (This sentence alone is repeated several times!). Though i‘m sure the original in chinese is flowery and beautiful, here it is excessive!
Everything is over the top, more than in other cultivation novels i read, even though the MC is still relatively weak what he does can be felt „100.000 Miles away“ etc.
Even though it is a Novel there are those Manga sounds „Swish, swish. Rumble“ etc.
Or the speaker says „sigh“ and then makes the sound!
That breaks immersion.
Pro:
The speaker is good, he’s speaking slow and clear without accent.
If you can ignore the Contras, then the story is pretty entertaining.
Conclusion:
I won‘t buy the other books of this series!

forgettable
the story is one of the less entertaining wuxia/xian xia tropes.
It also feels like its badly translated, i've been reading wuxia for almost 10years now and know the used ideoms and tropes inside out.
Some ideoms in here are atrociously butchered, almost beyond recognition.
The voice actor seems like a new talent, he has yet to expand the range of his voice(s) but is overall good at delivering.
i think it would be 2.5 at most.
If you like well written wuxia novels, i can highly recommend the cradle series.
