It is set in the Threadbare universe, but in what I believe is the past compared to the Threadbare and Small Medium books. Also this book has a better introduction to the machanics of the game. It doesn't matter compared to the the Threadbare books, but if I could have I would have preferred to have read this before the Small Medium books.
Nick Podehl is great as always, and it is nice _finally_ to have a narrator that can read N/A correctly in context. Still can't fathom the other narrator managed to get it wrong in all six other books.
Though it is hilarious to have the Andew Seiple try to fit in real programming and talk about Haskell, and then looking for 'return' and 'for' statements (and in Arabic at that). Might have been better to have used a fictional programming language instead to avoid mistakes like that, but nobody who isn't a computer expert would notice.

Then there is book three, it has a good beginning, a good middle but no ending.
The Books character speculate and plan and
you get a somewhat vague idea what they wish to accomplish.
But then the author ends his book a chapter too early, he finishes it with a systems character spreadsheet.
I felt left hanging and it ruined the whole experience!
