"Narrator Jack de Golia's friendly, engaging voice brings a childlike quality to canine Luna's story as she tells her mate about her nine previous lives. There's warmth in de Golia's voice as Luna recalls beloved human companions and then sadness and anxiety as her previous selves adjust to changes in the humans' lives. Her experience as a street dog, teaming up with another dog and a cat, will give listeners a smile even as they realize how rough life on the street was. Cruelty comes into Luna's past lives in the form of an abusive drunken owner and a brutal career as a fight dog, with profanity popping up occasionally.
