Über diesen Titel

After leaving Netherfield, Fitzwilliam Darcy hopes to escape the memory of Elizabeth Bennet.

Yet, he cannot escape her in his dreams, where she angrily rejects his suit. As these dreams seem partially prophetic, Darcy begins to reconsider his actions in Hertfordshire.

Unbeknownst to him, Elizabeth is experiencing similar dreams, seeing a different side of Darcy than the haughty demeanor he initially displayed. When they meet again in Kent, their reunion is unexpectedly amiable especially as they come to realize they shared a dream of the future.

However, both families have those determined to keep them apart. Will their dreams unite them or drive them further apart? Join our dear couple as they fight against those who would make their dreams a nightmare.

Darcy and Elizabeth's dreams of redemption

After the Netherfield ball Fitzwilliam Darcy leaves Netherfield in the hope to escape his growing love for Elizabeth Bennet who is, in his eyes, not suitable enough to be his wife. But his endeavours are for nothing, he even dreams of proposing to her - only to be angrily rejected. This dream and her accusations she utters in there cause him to think about his attitude and his behaviour towards Elizabeth and her family.
Unbeknownst to him Elizabeth experiences the same dream. She now sees a different, emotional side of the gentleman which causes her to think about her dislike of him and its cause.
When they meet again at Kent both are changed and the understanding of the other is different, giving them the chance for a better relationship than the one they had before. Soon they realise that they shared a dream. Will they be able to come to an understanding and build a future together? Or will the dream come true and they will part in a dispute? And what will their families think about their growing feelings for another?

The book was very well written by the author Melissa Anne. I like her style of writing very much and therefore enjoyed her new book.

In this audiobook Elizabeth and Darcy experience the same dream, a dream about Darcy's proposal in Kent. Naturally, in his arrogant way he is violently rejected by Elizabeth and afterwards they part ways. Both see this dream as a prophetic sign. I like the idea that both get a chance to improve their attitude and behaviour before they meet again in Kent. This is the case here. This dream gives both much to ponder and they both experience the change now, before meeting in Kent, a change which in Jane Austen's story took place after the proposal and before they met again at Pemberley. Both are now, after the dream, much more sensible for the other and they have a better understanding of the other's character and thinking. Therefore they can encounter one another in a much more relaxed and open way and they actually talk with one another. Like always this is the game changer and they solve their misunderstandings and come to an understanding. Good for us readers and listeners because this early understanding means much page time for ODC together 😉.

I also like that Darcy and Elizabeth need to work together, not only to change themselves for the better, but in the true sense of the word: both have an agricultural background and knowledge and therefore, when they meet again for the first time, a topic to discuss. Later, when they are married, they need to manage Pemberley and Longbourn together. I find this part of their relationship very important because it also educates them in negotiations and compromises, things which are also very important for their private lives.

You will find the usual villains like Wickham, Caroline and Lady Catherine in this audiobook, but there are also strong objections from other family members who try to intervene in the relationship of ODC. Fortunately they are all in the end not successful but ODC needs to overcome the obstacles put in their way and deal with every "evil" person. But, in the end, they all get what they deserve.

Besides the "evil" relatives there are also very supportive ones who are of great help for Darcy and Elizabeth. I like this feeling of love and support that you can feel throughout the book and that is also important for ODC. The family bounds, established and new formed ones, are also a central point in the story.

The audiobook was narrated by Elizabeth Grace and Harry Frost. I adore both narrators and to have them both voice such an excellent story was one of my dreams coming true.
Harry Frost is narrating the chapters that are from Darcy's point of view, Elizabeth Grace is narrating the chapters that are from Elizabeth's point of view. Both narrators are excellent in voicing the different characters so that the whole story comes to life. To have them together is near perfect. I could not have told which one I liked better because I always loved the one that was narrating at that precise moment a bit more than the other 😉

If you like to know how the future changes when Darcy and Elizabeth both dream in advance of Darcy's rejected proposal in Hunsford and both therefore change their view of one another you should definitely listen to this audiobook.

I highly recommend it.
