Solid story with a few rough edges

Imperial Guard stories are in my opinion some of the more interesting in all of 40k. One gets the perspective of regular humans in a galaxy full of things to kill them and worse, so I really enjoyed this book.

I deduct 1 star in the story category however because the pacing feels off at times and some plot points have rushed/lazy resolutions.

I think it's fine

I enjoyed the story. However it is held back by characters that are written to be incompetent/inexperienced. I know it's addressed in the story but the reason given is it's better for propaganda. As if a mission working out isn't better then what ends up happening.
