An entertaining, sweet story set in Melbourne, Australia. It’s totally predictable, of course, but author KJ still placed a little surprise in the last third of the book. Something happens that I absolutely would not have expected.

I am a total sucker for celebrity stories, so it immediately convinced me to grab this book. One of the main characters is Abby (Abigail) Taylor, a renowned actress from LA. She is in Melbourne for a movie shoot and has her 9-year-old daughter, Grace, with her. And then there’s Sam Markson, a well-established teacher at a prestigious school. And by “sheer coincidence” Abby hires Sam to be Grace’s private teacher for 3 months.

The story is, of course, absolutely cheesy and, as already mentioned, predictable. But the main characters are really so wonderful and loving that you wish them only the very best. They are simply meant for each other. :)

I felt more or less bored listening to it. Asking me now and then to better stop consuming it altogether. The story is ... nice. But there is absolutely no interesting twist. The characters are moving towards each other. There is no caution, they have complete trust in one another right from the beginning. That's so unbelievable or better it's simply absurd. So I was taken aback now and then, when there would be a scene again made so easy. Foregoing the possibility to turn the story into something interesting: Filmstar meets normal person - there should be some interesting issues to overcome. Here is nothing.

The narrator is good to follow. You can well distinguish the characters, but she divides each sentence in small segments. I sometimes wondered if it is an artificial voice reading it because it was performed so uniformly.
Bottom line: I would not recommend this novel. It's ok listening to it but there is no real joy in doing so.

I really like the story and was keen to know the ending. Part 2 would be great to finde out about the developement of the two worlds.

The narrator was very boring in her way of speaking. I missed the exitement and tension in her voice. Sometimes I found it difficult to distinguish the caracters.

Ich habe das Buch bereits drei Mal gelesen und nun endlich das Hörbuch geholt um es nebenbei einfach laufen zu lassen, da ich die Story von Sam und Abbi echt schön fand. Allerdings komme ich auf die Sprecherin nicht so ganz klar. Sie spricht sehr langsam und die Sätze sind teilweise ein bisschen "zerrissen" weil sie Pausen an Stellen lässt, wo man im Hörfluss ein wenig unterbrochen wird. Das finde ich sehr schade, da das Buch an sich wirklich schön ist. Kein großes Drama oder sonst was. Ein schönes Buch für einen entspannten Sofaabend, ;)
