Inhaltsangabe
Lieutenant Sam Bitka, US Naval Reserve, is getting used to civilian life when he is called back to active duty. Tensions between Earth and the alien Varoki are on the rise, and Sam is assigned as tactical officer aboard the deep space destroyer USS Puebla. Dispatched to the distant world of K'tok to protect human colonists, he wants nothing more than to serve out his active duty time and get back to his civilian life.
But when the Varoki launch a crippling surprise attack against the Earth coalition fleet, Sam finds himself suddenly in command of the USS Puebla, a job he is far from certain he can discharge successfully. What's more, mounting evidence points to a much larger and more sinister alien plan.
Now, Sam must deal with faltering leadership in the human task force and an alien enemy who always seems one step ahead of them. Time for Sam to step up and rise to the challenge of command.

solid space opera/ military sci fi
Greenfox's review is spot on. I also enjoyed it.
The chatacters are cliche but enjoyable. the realism is not any worse than most...actually I find it above average. at least it brings a few grams of realistic-like hardships to the crews.
Additional food for thought:
Naval oriented miltary sci fi.
American centric, as usual, but NOT painfully so.
The premise that future humanity is not one happy family and multiple nations exist and flourish is welcome. At least 10 nations still exist on muötiple continents. Aliens races are politically divided as well.

Solid Sci-Fi Space Opera, just a bit to cliche.
Overall, i enjoyed this.
Most made sense but a bunch of things make you scratch your head.
As i dont want to spoil the plot too much, i will just say ... physics seem to only not function. When it helps the story plot xD.
Plus rockets seem to be the problem solver for everything. While someone kinda never seems to have actually put down the numbers for their flightpath time and other such things.
Spaceship fights felt quite good, even if a few things aren't really realistic.
Like the accuracy of weapons, how strong they are at times ... but then again when it hits story important characters. Those are only glancing hits .. xD over and over again.
The plot that drives this all is the same old story of "gree/ fear / war monkey" we all know. Plus all the officers are idiotic politics driven assholes and only the non regular officers are actually the "good guys". On both sides too, as the aliens have the same officer breed it seems :D.
The voice actor does a decent job, but is a bit to sterile or monotone at many a important part of the story.
I will listen to the other one put up too. But i can see why this hasn't gotten much of a following here. It goes neither into the super realistic well tought out part of sci-fi or the flashy laser gun swaggering cowbody style. Atleast there's little romance going on :D.
