Betrothed to the Emperor ends with more story to tell, but the characters end on a HFN.

Amazing

I really really really loved this story. From the protagonist - a skilled assassin with a heart that is just a liiiiittle too invested in the emperor and his well-being, to the emperor himself who wants to stop the expansion, to even the emperor's dogs, mistrustful or loyal or kind, they were all so well-rounded I want to see their individual plot lines continued. A well-crafted plot with a solid beginning to what could be an epic lovestory, I can not wait for part two. Also, the world-building is exquisite, with court intrigue, different countries and their traditions... I've loved the Windrose-series by Kai Butler and this one seems to be just as intriguing, though it's more solidly fantasy.

Of course, the narrator does an amazing job as well, but I did originally choose this book because of him, so...

All in all, I can't wait until I get to listen to the next book in the series!
