    About the Host: With over 100 fights on the international Muay Thai circuit, Shannon’s career includes National, Commonwealth, and South Pacific titles, and a No. 6 ranking in the WMTC World Rankings. After retiring, Shannon turned his attention to training the next generation of fighters, eager to share the lessons he learned from his time in the ring.

    Shannon's journey began at the iconic Boonchu Gym on the Gold Coast, where he trained alongside some of the pioneers of Muay Thai in Australia and New Zealand. Having competed against many of the world’s top fighters, Shannon often found himself intrigued by the stories behind the athletes – who they were before stepping into the ring, and what shaped them into the fighters they became. The FightScene is dedicated to uncovering these stories.

    Shannon is also a Husband and Dad who has battled his own personal journeys with mental health, addictions, grief and more, but has stories of hope as he has had great people walk alongside him on the way.

    In each episode, Shannon interviews top trainers and fighters from Australia and New Zealand, offering an inside look at the lives and experiences of the individuals behind the gloves. The channel serves as a virtual mentor for up-and-coming fighters, providing them with access to inspiring figures they can look up to and learn from.

  • Terry Hill (Part 1), 40 Years of Martial Arts Wisdom – From Bruce Lee to Building Respect

    Terry Hill is a New Zealand martial arts legend with over 40 years of experience, spanning various combat sports and disciplines. His journey began in the 70s with Kyokushinkai Karate, before mastering Goju Ryu Karate, boxing, and kickboxing. He went on to achieve numerous national and international titles, including the 1st World Full Contact Goju Ryu Karate Championship in Okinawa in 1991. Throughout his career, Terry has trained and produced many champion fighters across multiple martial arts disciplines, including Karate, Kickboxing, and Sanda (Chinese full-contact fighting). Terry’s contributions to martial arts extend beyond the dojo. He is a certified international Sanda judge and has officiated numerous events, including refereeing high-profile UFC bouts in Manila. His leadership in New Zealand's martial arts scene is undeniable, serving as President of the New Zealand Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NZMMAF) and being inducted into the NZ MMA Hall of Fame for his pioneering work in the sport. With decades of competition, coaching, and officiating experience, Terry Hill continues to shape the martial arts community both in New Zealand and internationally, making him a revered figure in combat sports.
