Über diesen Titel
Cold Cobalt, the Banshee with a Blade, First Among Villains... When there were no more titles to win and no more worlds to conquer, the warrior queen Zosia faked her demise and gave up her legend to history. But when violence finds its way to her door years later, she must round up her adventuring companions - each surprised to see her alive - and set out for revenge.
Time has not been kind to her old comrades, and some have only their own goals in mind. Not only that but there's a young, beautiful, and skilled general out there, gathering soldiers to her banner for a war against the deadliest of enemies. The girl is using a legend she did not earn and calling herself by a name that was never hers - that of Zosia herself.

Angèle Masters is an amazing narrator, and perfectly suited for this series. My wife and I had a blast listening to her and will probably do so again.
Regarding the story, I'll mostly leave you with the blurb. To be honest, only the way the characters are set up is truly worth mentioning. The idea of the old retirees coming back for "one last score" is something you don't often encounter in a fantasy setting, and the way it is used to make fun of certain tropes is a huge contribution to the overall experience. Beyond that, it's mostly generic fantasy. That being said, the character interactions are hilarious, and while the way the immediate factions are set up is nothing to write home about, the overall setting is still a great playground for our motley crew.
Something else we really enjoyed is the language. It's a great mix of beautiful, almost poetic descriptions and coarse dialogues. It's by no means like Tolkien's or Robert Jordan's (I don't think there is a single braid tug) works, but it's not intended to be, either. If it wasn't an audiobook, it would be a "light read" - with serious topics woven in. It's perfect for just running in the background and you won't be entirely lost if you miss a word or two. Give it a try!
Darkhorse series with an amazing narrator
