What Can a Teenager Teach You about Your Own Life?
What If She Spoke to You from the Afterlife?
Farrah Rauch died by cop at the culmination of a long and difficult adolescence. Her family sought help for her, but multiple institutions and treatment facilities failed to reach her. Her friends and siblings tried to help her feel accepted but failed to reach her. Her father, Steve, tried to guide her to better life choices but failed to reach her—until 14 bullets cast their connection for eternity.
After Farrah’s death, Steven chose to release himself from the tethers of anger at the cops who had to take his daughter’s life. He reached out to the officers involved in the shooting and the Chief of Police to let them know he forgave them. Steven invited the Chief to speak at Farrah’s funeral, which he did. The invitation and the Chief’s acceptance resonated across the world into the hearts of all who heard the story to show that anger and grudges would only consume the grieving father.
Steve chose to heal, to forgive, and to make Farrah’s experiences useful.
But Steve didn’t tell this story alone. From the afterlife, Farrah helped him find the words to share her dreams, hopes, triumphs and failures. Steve heard her story directly from Farrah, and he shares it here. Those who choose to listen will hear her wisdom on forgiveness, how to be truthful to self, how to gain power over self-interest and instant gratification. She shares how to overcome struggles and weaknesses and accept meaningful facts of life. It’s about perspective, gaining power over destructive self-harm, and love. Let Farrah’s lessons teach what you can control and what you can’t, what you can forgive and why, and how to take care of yourself. She’s speaking to you.
