On April 9, 2005, Maxine Thompson received an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humanities at Loyola Marymount University, Westchester, California, through The R.O.S.E. Ministries-Worldwide.
Called a "Renaissance Woman" by her peers, she is largely self-taught in the areas of e-book publishing, book doctoring, ghostwriting, story editing, literary coaching, column writing, information marketing, and Internet radio show hosting since March 2002. She earned her Bachelor's Degree with honors from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, in 1973 as an English major.
A former social worker of twenty-three years, Maxine currently resides in California, where she keeps herself busy supporting artists through her Maxine Thompson Literary Services. Maxine is making her mark in the literary and publishing fields, opening doors once closed to black writers and bringing new emerging writers with intriguing story lines and characters with depth and texture with her.

Her novel, Hostage of Lies, was published on December 1, 2009 under Urban Books/Kensington. Her next novel, LA Blues is due out in October 2010. Hostage of Lies was voted as a Best Book of 2009 by EDC-Creations/Black Pearl Magazine.

Maxine E. Thompson is an award-winning writer. From 1982 to 1986, she won many poetry awards. In 1989, Ms. Thompson won $1,000 in Ebony's first Writing Contest for her short story, "Valley of the Shadow.
She received a small PEN award for her novel, The Ebony Tree, and an International Black Writer's Association award for her short story, "The Rainbow." She has self-published 2 novels, The Ebony Tree and No Pockets in a Shroud, a short story collection, A Place Called Home (2001) and 3 ebooks, How To Promote, Market and Sell Your Book Via eBook Publishing (April 2000) and workbook, CD ebook,The Hush Hush Secrets of Writing Fiction That Sells.(April 2003) and latest released ebook, The Hush Hush Secrets of Creating a Life You Love. In June 2003, her short story, VALLEY OF THE SHADOW, was published in Kensington's Anthology, PROVERBS FOR THE PEOPLE.
On 08-27-05 Dr. Thompson received an award from the Metro Lit Detroit Writing Collective Literary Awards Dinner for Literary Spirit in Motion: Business Supporting New and Upcoming Writers.
On January 15, 2006, she received a Certificate of Achievement-Literary Award Winner for 2005 from Marguerite Press.

Literary Agent:
As of 11-11-10, Maxine Thompson has sold over 71 books to New York Publishers for both herself and other writers. Maxine Thompson sold an anthology called SECRET LOVERS to Carl Weber's Urban Books/Kensington Books which was released in June 2006.
This anthology was chosen as a BLACK EXPRESSION'S ALTERNATE CHOICE as of 3-1-06. Her novella, SECOND CHANCES, was one of the stories to be published in the anthology, as well as romance writer Patricia Anne Phillips' IRRESISTIBLE FLAMES, and prolific writer, Michelle McGriff's DETOURED.
On 7-8-06, SECRET LOVERS made the Black Expressions' Book Club BESTSELLER'S LIST.
In December 2006, SECRET LOVERS, was Chosen as Best Novella of 2006 under Black Refer Reviewer's Choice, spearheaded by Reviewer, Author, Publicist, Internet Show host, Delores Thornton.

Since March 5, 2002, Dr. Thompson has conducted over 2,000 hours of live Internet radio interviews. March 5, 2006 marks Maxine's fourth year as a host with Voiceamerica Internet Radio for her show, "On The Same Page." She has been a host with Artistfirst.com since March 1, 2004. She launched her own Internet Radio network on March 1, 2005 at www.maxineshow.com.
A much sought-after speaker, Maxine Thompson has conducted workshops nationwide on various aspects of writing, self-publishing, Ebook publishing, and Internet Marketing.
