Amazing and enlightening book about the future
Very good listen. Everyone who is on doubt of capitalism and is afraid of climate change should listen to this book. Matt Ridleys Arguments are convincing and interesting and should turn every pessimist into a rational optimist. Thank you!

great narrator!

Makes the same mistakes as the pessimistic books
I listened to this audiobook to broaden my perspective on topics like economics and climate change. I read other books to these topics before and most of them were pretty pessimistic about the future if no drastic change would happen very soon.
So I was open and happy to here some brighter predictions for the future.
But. This book makes the same mistakes most of the books about these topics make. Fail to give a real overview and a brought image without falling into preaching some agendas. Either everything conservatives say is wrong and we have to change everything or the world will go downhill or everything environmentalists say is wrong we are better than ever all because of fossil fuels and capitalism. Trust the system and keep calm(this book in a nutshell)
No credit to the other side. No reflected view on the way we went so far and no some things are a good and we should keep them and some are bad we should change them fast. We made mistakes we can admit it but here’s how we fix it but not everything was wrong and we can be proud of the things we did.
The world is not black and white. Not just bad or just good. Everything has pros and cons. If you’re looking for a book that gives a balanced picture. Look elsewhere. If you’re a naive optimist and just want to hear that everything will be fine and nothing needs to be changed about the way we living. Go for it.
